Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

You can either schedule a short clarity call to see if we are a good fit, or book an initial consultation if you are ready to dive in.

The initial consultation is where we take the time to fully understand your case and map out a clear plan moving forward.

Do you offer free consultations?

I offer a brief 10-15 minute clarity call to answer questions and determine if we are a good fit.

For a deeper, more personalized approach, I offer a paid initial consultation where we review your full health history and begin building your plan.

What is included in the initial consultation?

This is a 60-minute deep dive where we:

  • Go through your full health history
  • Break down your symptoms and patterns
  • Identify potential root causes
  • Create a personalized plan moving forward

If we decide to work together, the cost of this consultation is applied toward your care plan.

What happens after the initial consultation?

If it feels like a good fit, we move forward with a personalized care plan.

This may include a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, functional medicine strategies, and lifestyle changes to support your healing over time.

How is your approach different from conventional medicine?

Conventional medicine often focuses on managing symptoms.

My approach focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of what is going on in your body, using a combination of Chinese medicine, functional medicine principles, and lifestyle-based strategies.

What is functional medicine?

Functional medicine is a root-cause approach that looks at how different systems in the body are connected.

It often includes advanced testing, nutrition, and targeted support to help restore proper function rather than simply suppress symptoms.

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)?

Traditional Chinese Medicine is an ancient system of medicine that views the body as an interconnected whole.

It focuses on restoring balance through acupuncture, herbal medicine, and lifestyle practices rather than treating isolated symptoms.

How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture uses very fine needles to stimulate specific points on the body.

This helps regulate the nervous system, improve circulation, and support the body's natural healing processes.

How long does it take to see results?

This depends on your condition, how long it has been going on, and your level of consistency.

With acupuncture, I typically recommend starting with 2 sessions per week for the first few weeks. Acupuncture works best as a cumulative effect, and consistency upfront helps create faster results.

What does a typical treatment plan look like?

Every plan is personalized.

Most people start with a more consistent phase of care to build momentum, followed by a maintenance or optimization phase as symptoms improve.

Will I need to make lifestyle changes?

In most cases, yes.

Healing is not just about what happens in the treatment room. We often work on nutrition, sleep, stress regulation, and daily habits to support long-term results.

Will I need to purchase anything in addition to treatment?

In many cases, yes.

This may include herbal formulas, supplements, or functional lab testing depending on your specific situation. Everything is discussed with you beforehand.

Do you accept insurance?

This is a cash-based practice.

However, I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. HSA and FSA cards are also accepted.

Do you offer one-off sessions?

I primarily work with patients over time through a structured care plan.

This allows us to build momentum and create more lasting results, especially for chronic or complex conditions.

Do you offer in-person acupuncture?

Yes.

For those located in Austin, in-person acupuncture is available as part of your care plan.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most people are surprised by how gentle it is.

The needles are extremely thin, and many patients feel relaxed or even fall asleep during treatment.

Is this right for me?

This work is best for people who are:

  • Open to a root-cause approach
  • Willing to be consistent
